After about 8,000 miles, Gaston, my graveler, has upgraded to new carbon rims, new rubber, new cassette & chain; and me, I feel 2 years younger, on a bike anyway.
Built this loop to do in small groups, but tried it solo here first. Sawyer Trail is finally open all the way and repaved, an excellent ride during the week when foot traffic is quite light. Hillsborough is great for its super quiet streets and substantial hills--these 2 in this loop are just about Cat 4. And the descent from …
After half a forever, the Sawyer Trail is reworked, repaved (the northern section), and re-opened all the way through. It's so nice to have you back. An unencumbered ride even on a Friday afternoon. But avoid it on weekends when you're biking. Too busy.

December 1, 2023,Back up the Sawyer Trail
After nearly a year, the best local trail is back open. Nice and quiet this morning. They fixed 3 wash-out spots and had to fight the SF Water Company to get it done. Now, I need to go see if the Ralston path over 280 is reopened. Should be. Then ALL local paths would be back!
