March 23, 2024,Alabamas 👯‍♀️💃👯 auf dem Mandelpfad 🌸💮
We had written off the almond blossoms, everything has an end.😒
But our hike was a great success, the weather was great. Even the sun was visible, I was happy 🤗🤗
The food in Burrweiler couldn't be beat, everyone was very satisfied.
A nice Saturday with lots of fun and a great atmosphere.

Halfway between Siebeldingen and Frankweiler is the Geilweilerhof Research Institute for Vine Breeding. Many well-known and popular grape varieties have been bred here since 1925. The almond path leads directly past it. The view from the vine-covered slopes to the almond blossom in March is magnificent. 🌸
I'm really excited, the buds are already here. 🤗

Given that I've seen almost exclusively white almond blossoms in the south of France in the last few weeks, it was actually clear that the first tour in the Palatinate would be a "Pretty Pink Tour" 🥰

After the somewhat disappointing almond blossom plantation near Freinsheim, we enjoyed the almond blossoms to the fullest today. We were truly thrilled by the multitude of almond trees and the almond avenue to walk along.

Highlights/Notables:
- Almond Blossom Trail
- Geilweilerhof (former monastery complex)
- Almond Avenue
- Sections of the Schmunzelweg Trail

There was a lot of air traffic in the Wingert area around Frankweiler. There were such large flocks of starlings that the sky became dark. Most of them migrate to the southern Mediterranean and North Africa. Here in the Southern Palatinate there are still delicious leftover grapes to eat...

Today I chose the almond path from Frankweiler to Siebeldingen. I planned the way there on the Haardtrand, with a view of the Rhine plain. Near Frankweiler there are some remnants of the castle Altweicheneck. So I went to look, but on the first climb there was a sign, stop, quiet zone of the wild. Yes, what are you doing …
