Heiligenthal Manor Chapel

Highlight • Religious Site

Heiligenthal manor chapel

The brick chapel, built on a boulder foundation, was first built in 1568.
Inscription panels set into the walls remind of the founder, Anna von Möller, wife of the first lord of Heiligenthal, and of the renovations in 1837, 1922 and 1975.
The artistically valuable work of an unknown master is the baptismal font created in 1665.
The year of origin of the well-proportioned pulpit altar is not known.
The stalls and organ are very recent.

Heiligenthal Watermill

Highlight • Monument

Heiligenthal watermill

The Heiligenthaler Mühle rises like a castle at the entrance to Heiligenthal.
The mill actually stands on historical ground, even if the current mill building was not built until 1950: Premonstratensian monks had built a mill here on the Hasenburger Bach after they had built a monastery at this location in 1315. After the Reformation it came into the possession of the Heiligenthal estate in 1562, to which it belonged until 1865.
In contrast to many mills, the mill seems to have experienced an economic boom after the Second World War. The impressive new construction of the mill, built in the so-called "Heimatstil", already indicates this.
But since 1973 the Mühlenhof has gradually been converted into a restaurant. In 1981 the grinding operation finally stopped, and in addition to the restaurant at the mill pond there was now a large ballroom and a number of hotel rooms in the mill building.
However, since 1998 the turbine has been turning again and generating electricity.

Oedeme Village Pond

Highlight • Lake

Many villages have a fire-extinguishing pond, this one in Oedeme even has a footbridge. If you stand on the jetty, you are amazed how fishy this is. This was also found by a heron who served there. He is especially beautiful when the water lilies are blooming.

Most people do not notice this at all and buy their plants, bouquets or flowers at Blumenhof Müller.

A wonderful cycle path that is almost as wide as the road next to it. If you come from the direction of Südergellersen, it goes downhill and it almost drives itself.
