August 21, 2025,EmsRadweg Tag 5 🚴🏼‍♀️🚴‍♂️ Von Emsdetten nach Lingen
For the first time today, we crossed the Ems after just a few kilometers, crossing the curved suspension bridge for pedestrians and cyclists. A short break along the Ems River then presents itself a few more kilometers later at the Bockholter Emsfähre (Bockholter Ems Ferry). This is a crossing for cyclists and hikers, crossing the Ems south of Elte. The …

A very nice tour under adverse conditions as we were constantly riding above the 35 degree mark. Unfortunately, many highlights passed us by. Conclusion: A great tour that calls for repetition!
But in moderate temperatures 😅

Today the landscape became a little more undulating. The Ems was occasionally joined by the Dortmund-Ems Canal.

We went from Emsdetten along the Ems cycle path to Lingen to the Hotel Märchenwald. A beautiful tour that is highly recommended. There is a short, steep staircase along the canal, but you can avoid it.

Slept comfortably in quiet surroundings and on top of that a nice breakfast...good start to the day 👍

Today we have to drive a leisurely 60 km. It first goes back to the Emsradweg and to Rheine, partly along the road. You drive through Rheine directly on the banks of the Ems.

Even though there were only brief touches of the Ems River, which is often the case with riverside cycle paths, I found the route beautiful and interesting. There …

Finally! After a 1 1/2 year break due to Corona, friend Lizeli and I start our bike tour (s) together again. This time we are on the way in stages on the EmsRadweg from Emsdetten to Emden.
On our 1st stage we cycled from Emsdetten to Lingen, a nice setting for the next few days. 🚴🏼‍♀️🚴🏼‍♀️☀️🏞
