Bouwel Windmill

Highlight • Monument

Originally, the residents of Bouwel were obliged to have their grain ground in the grobbendonk ban mill. Only after the French Revolution in 1789 did Bouwel get its own windmill with accompanying mill house. The old mill was burned down in 1914 for strategic reasons by the retreating Belgian army. Only the dice remained standing. The post mill of Westerlo-Voortkapel was purchased with the compensation for war damage and rebuilt in the same place in 1925. This mill probably dates from 1713.

Grobbendonk Watermill

Highlight • Monument

Grobbendonk's water mill is located at the confluence of the Kleine Nete and Aa and is one of the most beautiful hammer mills in the Kempen. This 13th-century battle mill still grinds daily, oats and barley are crushed for horse feed. Until today, the mill is only powered by water power, which is unique for Flanders

Chapel of the Avenue

Highlight • Religious Site

In the wooded area of the castle, not far from the Kasteeldreef, stands the chapel in the avenue, dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes. It is generally assumed that the foundation took place around 1880 - 1882. What is certain is that the chapel was founded by order of Mr. Philippe Maria Joseph Herman van de Werve. He lived in the castle from 1850 to 1884. Architecturally, the chapel is a gem in neo-Gothic style. The interior, in which the inside of the tower was designed as a Lourdes grotto, is characteristic.

Borrekens Castle

Highlight • Castle

The castle has been the pride of Vorselaar for centuries. Around 1270 the first stone was laid by the knights of Rotselaar. The ground plan has been largely preserved to this day. The castle is home to a treasure trove of history and stories, and has been inhabited ever since by noble families. The walking and cycling paths around the castle grounds are a major attraction in the municipality. The castle is surrounded by a green oasis. The beautiful Lindendreef takes you from the church of Vorselaar in a straight line to the castle. To keep the peace in the forest, traffic is not allowed here.

Le Paige Castle

Highlight • Castle

The castle dates from 1892. Elements from the Renaissance, Baroque and Classicism form a neo-style. In the interior we find an impulse to Art Nouveau. The wrought iron fence around the front garden is made by the Herental iron foundry Van Aerschot.
