Coulée Verte René-Dumont

Highlight • Cycleway

It is great to ride on this beautiful smooth cycle path between trees and shrubs, built on a former railway route. It is several kilometers long and carefully planted.
The railway, inaugurated in 159, was the connection between the Bois de Vincennes and La Bastille. The route along which this line ran is deeply sunken at the start, but further on, along Avenue Daumesnil, the railway line lay on an elongated viaduct with large arches. The railway was closed in 1669 and the SNCF sold it to the city of Paris in 196.

The Dying Slave

Highlight • Other

The cornice of the police building Rue Daumesnil, 80, with a series of identical images. The attitude of the men seems a bit challenging at first, but it's about something completely different: it's a work of art from 1990 and you see a series of copies of l'Esclave mourant, a statue by Michelangelo, standing on top of the building.

Le Viaduc des Arts

Highlight • Other

Chic studios have been set up under the arcades of the viaduct, Le Viaduc des Arts. There are antique dealers, copper and silversmiths, framers and galleries where artists display their creations. There is a violin maker, ...
And of course a good bike path.

One of the great squares in the 12th arrondissement. Beautifully designed with the huge fountain as a focal point, many trees and benches, and some gastronomic offerings on the square.
