His wish was to be buried after his death among the trees he had planted and tended. And so it happened. When he died in 1916, he was buried about 300 meters from the Stary Dwór forester's lodge in Skorzęcin. On the left side of the grave are five Douglas firs, each symbolizing ten years of the deceased's life. Today they are about 30 meters tall.

According to legend, the forester's spirit became the posthumous defender of the forest and the surrounding nature, chasing away poachers and all those who act to their detriment.
