Shortly after the seizure of power by the NSDAP, terror began in Falkensee against institutions and representatives of the workers' movement. Thus, the clubhouse of the workers' sports club "Fichte" was set on fire in the Nachtigallstraße by a SA storm, members of the KPD were attacked by SA people with firearms. Local officials of the labor movement such as the worker athlete and local council Oskar Sander were arrested, abused and taken to the concentration camp. In 1943, an inmate camp was built on the eastern edge of the city as a satellite camp of the Sachsenhausen concentration camp (today's memorial site on Hamburger Straße). Originally this plant had been created in 1938 to accommodate 650 railway workers, before it was leased in 1939 to the army administration, which further expanded the plant and built north of the Spandauer road a camp for prisoners of war. During the period of National Socialism, up to 2,500 mostly foreign prisoners were interned there. They performed forced labor in the RAW of the Deutsche Reichsbahn - the later DEMAG-Panzerwerk Albrechtshof (at the Seegefelder Weg) - and in the fenced barracks camp, which was guarded by the SS. Because the prisoners had learned about the murders during the death march of inmates of the concentration camp Lieberose to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, they refused on April 20, 1945 to comply with the order to evacuate. After the flight of the guards they received the incoming Soviet troops as liberators. Falkensee had 32,000 inhabitants in 1945, as numerous bombed-out Berliners rescued themselves in the surrounding area. This was the highest population by this time and for the next 55 years

Scenic Pathway in Berlin

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

There are walking paths on both sides of the ditch. There is also a cycle path south of the ditch next to the walking path. So there is plenty of space.

All in a beautiful and well-kept green area.

Falkensee Station

Highlight • Rest Area

As part of the Berlin-Spandau – Nauen expansion project (i2030.de/west/), Falkensee station is being rebuilt. The S-Bahn extension from Berlin-Spandau ends here. The existing regional train stops of Seegefeld and Albrechtshof will then be served by the S-Bahn. In the future, S-Bahn trains will run every ten minutes and offer new direct connections to all stations along the city rail network (including Westkreuz, Tiergarten, and Hackescher Markt). The establishment of accelerated express S-Bahn trains is currently being examined. For regional services, the platforms will be extended to 220 meters. This will allow for longer trains with more seats to be operated on the regional lines.
