The water wheel was built according to old models and put into operation on April 9, 1976.
It is reminiscent of the use of hydropower in the 11th century, which was of fundamental importance for the industrial development at the Rhine Falls.

Since ancient times, mills have been operated at the Rhine Falls, especially on the north side, using small parts of the water power. In the 17th century a blast furnace for smelting polishing ores was built on the right side of the falls and operated for about a century and then again in the first half of the 19th century. At the beginning of the 19th century, Johann Georg Neher received rights to use the water power at the Rhine Falls, which remained in his family for a long time. The power plant supplied the Swiss wagon factory and, from 1889, the first European aluminum plant of the Aluminum Industry Share Company with energy. In 1947 the name was changed to Rheinkraft Neuhausen AG.

This single-track bridge was built in 1856 and expanded in the late 1950s with pedestrian walkways on both sides. It is an important traffic structure and, at the same time, a popular photo motif for visitors.

The bridge spans the river at an angle of about 55 degrees and offers a beautiful view of the Rhine Falls and the surrounding landscape.

Clearly a tourist hotspot, but so worth seeing and spectacular, especially the boat trip. We really enjoyed it there🥰😍😎

When we fled from the bad weather in the Vosges, we went to Switzerland, to the Rhine Falls.
It is a wonderful natural spectacle.

Yes, every now and then I'm really good for a surprise 😁. Not going into the mountains on such a beautiful day is really rather uncharacteristic of me 😅. But the Rhine Falls had been on my list for a long time – and when Jens spontaneously offered to take me there, I simply jumped at the opportunity, preferably before …

Today we drove to the Rhine Falls in Schaffhausen.
Even in the pouring rain it was an absolutely great experience.
We hiked to Laufen Castle and paid the entrance fee for the Rhine Falls experience here. Here one viewing platform is better than the next, with some it is like standing in the waterfall yourself.
Then we took the ship …
