Les Halles de René

Highlight • Monument

René's halls were built in 1535, thanks to Jacques Hamelin who obtained from Françoise d'Alençon the right to halls, fairs and markets in this town. They still center the life of the municipality. They were partially demolished in 1847 when the communication route that runs alongside them was created. They were rented until 1932. These halls narrowly escaped demolition. In 2000, the town of René restored them.

Saint Malo Church

Highlight • Other

The oldest parts of this church seem to date from the Middle Ages, but the building was greatly remodeled in the 16th century.
The side chapels were added at this time, as was the opening of the large stained glass window of the choir.
The steeple, restored in the 19th century, is covered with slate.
Inside the church, two polychrome statues attract attention. One of the Virgin in terracotta, the other of Saint Barbara in stone, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries.
A wooden Christ is also worth noting.
The wooden stalls date from the 18th century, as does the altarpiece of the high altar (1755).
The wrought iron communion railing dating from the 18th century is still in place. Its rocaille-style ornamentation is common at this time.
Until 1911, the church was surrounded by its cemetery.

As its name suggests, this very small town (79 inhabitants) is only a village at the top of a narrow and steep hill. This is an opportunity for a small climb on a little used road, because it only serves the few houses surrounding the primitive church dating back to Romanesque times. No recent construction disturbs the wooded slopes of the hill. With its configuration of narrow belvedere, the small town is a haven of peace and the few inhabitants of the heights seem away from the world in this village enjoying a view of all the surroundings.

La Perrière

Highlight • Settlement

A beautiful little village that stands out for its charming houoses and characterful buildings. So much so that it has obtained the Petites Cités de Caractère® label.

Each village has its bell tower, how is this done? What fervor and audacity had our glorious fathers to build masterpieces so often? Did they think that life would stop at the end of their nose? Oh no, that's our modern ideology that makes us destroy the planet!
