Ballastières Beach

Highlight • Beach

Unfortunately, according to the notice board, swimming is prohibited at this beautifully landscaped beach. Apparently, the municipality can't find anyone willing to supervise it. In other words, a lifeguard is urgently needed.

Champagney Lake

Highlight • Lake

785m long and 26m high, the dam which encircles this water reservoir is an impressive work of art. The basin offers 7km of banks.

The Champagney basin contains 13 million m3 of water, the equivalent of 3,500 Olympic swimming pools.

Very nice campsite (campingdesballastieres.com), with nice overnight accommodations away from tents or caravans. E.g. in bivouacs on stilts, which have 1.4m wide beds. You have to bring your own bedding, but as a bike packer you have your hut sleeping bag with you. So if you want to have an alternative to the tent: ideal! Everything here is very clean, gastronomy was still on the back burner when I was there, as it had only been open three weeks after the "corona break". Breakfast-since plannable-therefor very rich. Great service and certainly not for the last time!

Cemetery of Champagney

Highlight • Historical Site

Champagney's cemetery is worth seeing. It is divided into the old right section and the newer left section. Some of the graves are very old. Definitely worth seeing.
