Rest Area at the Lohne River

Highlight • River

The place used to be called “Deutsches Eck” and was Diepholz’s “bathing establishment”.

Today this is an idyllic place to take a break. Sometimes you can see canoeists passing by here on their way from Dümmersee to Diepholz.

It is often a very quiet place with peace and a view of nature.
In winter, gray or great egrets are often on the prowl there.

The Dümmer Museum in Lembruch shows the natural and cultural history of Lake Dümmer. In addition to background information on the natural area with its flora and fauna, the formation of the lake and water management, the cultural history of the region, including its significant archaeology, is also presented.

Special exhibitions on various topics, action days, holiday programs and offers for the whole family are regularly held in the Dümmer Museum. An overview can be found on the Dümmer Museum's homepage.

In recent years, the fool has dressed up properly. Whole holiday homes have been created, but also nice little bars on the beach with a wonderful view of the lake. The sun bar in Lembruch is one of them and is located in a place with a particularly large view and sun! Very chill!

British Yacht Club, Dümmer Lake

Highlight • Structure

How it all started...
The commander of the Osnabrück garrison "British Forces Germany", Commander John Chaloner, who was enthusiastic about water sports, established the beginnings of the "British Yacht Club" on Lake Dümmer in 1945. The end of the Second World War was only a few months over and Commander Chaloner was looking for a pastime for his soldiers that offered relaxation and employment in an environment close to nature.
Known to many British soldiers as an important landmark during World War II overflights to strategic destinations, Lake Dümmer has now taken on a very different, more peaceful meaning.
From 1945 onwards, the British gradually expanded their involvement at the Dümmer, as the clubhouse was very popular with the soldiers. At the same time, contact with the local population and the local clubs grew. Regattas were held and joint celebrations organized. Many a Dümmeraner can report long and excessive nights at Arnings Patt.

Philosopher's Stone Sculpture

Highlight • Monument

The cubic lattice structure represents the longitude and latitude of the earth. The viewers of the sculpture are invited to place stones from all over the world at this place as a sign of the diversity of life. Stones, each of them bearers of their own story that lives on - interwoven with the stories of dozens, hundreds of other stones. Everyone who puts a stone down becomes a world-changing artist - and what could be wiser than that?
