The Georgian Military Road in the Greater Caucasus connects Georgia and Russia. Over an adventurous pass you reach Stepantsminda just before the border. From here the short hike to the church and monastery of Tsminda Sameba starts.

Our first hike in the Caucasus took us to a Georgian pilgrimage site, the 'Gregeti Trinity Church'.
It is located a good 10km from the Russian border and is surrounded by several 4000m peaks and a mountain over 5000m, the Kazbeg. A fantastic backdrop!
