Located on a natural terrace just over 1,560 meters above the Montoso hamlet in the Infernotto Valley. Rucas offers a unique view of the Po Valley, framed by the stupendous profile of the Cottian Alps, and the majestic view of Mount Friolànd (2,738 m) and Punta d'Ostanetta (2,385 m). Many stone quarries are still active nearby.

It takes its name from a characteristic rock called rucas in the local dialect.

Pleasant religious complex, dating back to the mid-19th century, owned by the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus.
