A stroll through Basel's old town on New Year's Eve. The still beautifully decorated streets and the truly lovely town hall with its magnificent entrance were the highlights. The Swiss have a real gem on the Rhine. Historic preservation is clearly a top priority, as you can see in many parts of the city. 👍🇨🇭

The Basel Morgenstreich (morning parade) is hard to describe in words. It's worth experiencing at least once. I do have a few tips, though. The best spot at 4 a.m. is Augustinergasse. Then head to the Rhine Bridge and then to the market square.
