Longer hikes in the Camargue are only for the hardy.
There is hardly any shade, temperatures can reach 40° in summer. Anyone who is out and about here should remember to bring good sun protection and plenty of water. It is also a good idea to bring binoculars to get a closer look at the diverse flora and fauna.

Now in June the little village was still quite tranquil, but you can't imagine what goes on here in midsummer from …

Yesterday evening we drove to the Carmarque, to Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer. This is our fourth time here and we can highly recommend the "La Brise" campsite, which is open 11 months a year. The Mediterranean and the pretty little town are just a stone's throw away from there. We don't usually go to campsites, but the price in the off-season is tempting. …

Detour to the Camargue to Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer. The mistral is blowing hard, but the sunny weather makes up for it. The play of colors between light, water and the vastness of the landscape is also very attractive in winter. Even the flamingos still feel comfortable. Prayers for a happy onward journey from the local gypsies are not exactly cheap. Hopefully they …
