Pleshey Rolling Hills

Highlight • Climb

The long drags at 3% can sometimes be worse than the short but steeper hills. Great riding around this area and pretty much traffic free.

Pleshey Village

Highlight • Settlement

Quaint village, site of a former royal castle, now just the earthworks left (sadly mostly obscured from view and on private property).

Woodhatch Quiet Country Roads

Highlight • Cycleway

If you want to get the feel that you have escaped the city grime, this is the road for you. Gently rolling, quiet and bordered with lush countryside. A great place to drop the pace to look at the views, or pick it up because of its quiet. Take your pick.

Wake Road, Epping Forest

Highlight • Cycleway

Heading north Wake Road seems like a lesser used road up to the Miller&Carter roundabout. Smooth tarmac with no potholes to dodge, a barely noticeable incline, and very few cars (or perhaps I just got lucky). The woodland on either side seems to absorb the local traffic noise and with the sun shining down it's a lovely few minutes of escapism on two wheels.
