View from Friar's Crag

Highlight • Viewpoint

Jutting into Derwentwater, Friar's Crag has clear views over Derwent Isle and across Derwentwater. On clear days, you can see across the lake to the National Trust owned property Brandlehow Woods. Friars Crag was once described by prominent Victorian art critic John Ruskin as one of the most beautiful places in Europe. There is a monument to the famous thinker at the Crag.

Moot Hall, Keswick

Highlight • Settlement

The current Moot Hall in the Lake District town of Keswick was built in 1813 and has been used as a market space, court house, museum and information centre. The building stands prominently in the middle of Market Square. From an adventure perspective, Moot Hall is the start and/or finish point of multiple Lake District challenges, including the single round of the Wainwrights, the Bob Graham Round and the Cumbrian Traverse.
