This area known as Bolton Gate was named after the farm that used the grounds before the quarrying began.

It is a beautiful picnic spot.

I have no information regarding the unusual appearance of the water despite researching.
(It is in a sandstone area so maybe the sediment can take some credit.)

If you like bagging Trig Points, this is a very easy one.

You can park on Maiden Castle Car Park and cross the road, heading for the Beacon Basket.

This is nearby the Hulme Beacon.
