As "promised", we captured a few morning impressions of the old town before we set out on the second day on the Spree Cycle Path under our tires and pedals.

The old town of Bautzen is always worth seeing.
Unfortunately, the cathedral and Nicolai cemetery were still closed.

The weather wasn't so kind to us today, so we decided to take a trip to Bautzen.
In this over 1,000-year-old city, you can still see many well-preserved city gates and towers, parts of the city wall, the remains of St. Nicholas' Church, which contains graves, the beautiful, simple St. Peter's Cathedral, and the Peace Bridge over the main Spree.

After a visit to Görlitz, on the way back to Dresden, we had a quick visit to Bautzen. A beautiful little town with great buildings, where we only happened to see the most beautiful view of the city from the bridge over the Spree River by chance while driving. Overall, though, I found the short tour sufficient.
