Volksbühne Luckenwalde

Highlight • Structure

With great attention to detail, the Mercedes truck from 1960 was transformed from the municipal building yard into a small stage and inaugurated in August 2021. Since then, the Luckenwalder Volksbühne on the boulevard has provided a better quality of stay and lends a wide variety of events a special atmosphere with its retro charm.

The Luckenwalder Volksbühne is capable of performing cabaret and is therefore ideally suited for comedy, theater and artistry formats. By simply extending the platform, the venue can also be used by larger music groups, clubs, choirs, dance groups and other artists. You can also use the stage for your own promotional purposes or innovative events. From open band rehearsals by local musicians, to readings, theater performances, to show cooking, fashion shows or outdoor sports courses - there are no limits to your imagination.

Büchsenbrunnen

Highlight • Monument

At the end of the 70s, the Büchsenbrunnen was draped as an eye-catcher and small attraction on the brand new boulevard. Around 50 metal cans in different sizes are arranged on three towers at different heights. Romantic water features were created with the cool water that splashed and bubbled from one can to the other.

It was restored in 2019 and, along with the Kariedelbrunnen and the drinking fountain, is one of the three extraordinary water facilities in the Luckenwalde pedestrian zone.

Kariedelbrunnen

Highlight • Monument

The Berlin artist Walter Hahmann took the design for the Kariedelbrunnen, here a reconstruction from 1980, from an old folk custom.

"I'm the little king, don't give me so little. I'm the little man who can eat anything.
Don't let me stand there for so long, I want to go a little further.
I'm the little Nix, so fix it a bit!"

With these and other sayings, the children went to wealthy merchants with sharpened and branched skewers to ask for gifts. The original location of the fountain was originally at The Hague.
The remains of the fountain there were integrated into the redesign of the green area of "Nuthepark" in 2004 and set new artistic accents with the sculpture group "9 out of 49".

The "Boulevard" runs between Theaterstrasse and Parkstrasse.

The city center is characterized by the market square and the adjoining Breite Straße (colloquially boulevard).

As the city's main shopping street, the Breite Strasse is completely designated as a pedestrian zone. This is where the annual Luckenwalde Christmas market takes place, whose trademarks are the fairytale characters by graphic artist Gerd Gebert and a large fir tree next to the Kariedelbrunnen, the tower festival and the Luckenwalde car mile.

The reconstructed Kariedel fountain is in the middle of Breite Straße. The original Karedel figures were lost in World War II. The figures represent two children going carousel, i. H. Collect food and put it on sticks.

The St. John's Church is a late Gothic two-aisled brick building on the foundations of an older fieldstone church, and has a separate bell tower. The medieval wall and ceiling paintings were only discovered in 1901 under a coat of paint from a later period. We were first allowed to listen to the organist practicing and then she explained the pictures to us.

The images in the vault caps, which date back to the late Middle Ages and therefore seem enigmatic to us today, represent the various manifestations of sin and their effects. The plants each mark the organ of the person with which he sins - the place where the sin comes out of him, so to speak grows out. Martin Luther spoke of the fact that we sin “in thoughts, words and deeds”, i.e. with our head, with our mouth and with our hand or even with our fist. The eye can also sin

War Memorials at Nuthepark

Highlight • Monument

The sandstone monument, crowned with a Prussian eagle, was handed over to the municipal authorities by the Warriors' Association on April 30, 1905. It commemorates the Luckenwalde soldiers who died in the wars of 1848 and 1864.

In 2004, the goddess of victory, Victoria, found her place on the opposite monument. This memorial stands for the fallen in the wars of 1866 and 1870. Both memorials are on the corner of Haag and Markt.
