Path Between the Elbe and Gnevsdorfer Vorfluter

Highlight • Cycleway

There are two cycle paths along the Elbe and along the Gnevsdorfer Vorfluter, the nicer path is along the Elbe or between the Elbe and the Vorfluter!

Cycle path between Hafel and Elbe used. A warm view of both rivers

This is where the Elbe and Havel meet. The Havel cycle path also begins or ends here. The Elbradweg and the Brandenburg Tour also run along here. A really great place where you just glide along on perfectly paved bicycle roads.

Very well-developed cycle path on the dike, which also offers a great view of the river landscape, especially at this point. Easy to drive on. A very nice route and a great section of this route! It's worth it!

Always beautiful, I usually do it in spring, but it is also beautiful in autumn.

Cycling through the Elbe valley and letting nature work its magic on you is simply wonderful. If you take the time and behave calmly, you can observe many animals, because the biodiversity is particularly high here. Different bird species are native here and migratory birds like to settle down on their journey. Elbe beavers, otters and wild boar can also sometimes be seen.

Stork Village Rühstädt

Highlight • Settlement

Nowhere in Germany do so many storks nest in such a small space as in the European stork village of Rühstädt near the Elbe.
The place is beautifully decorated and offers several options for a good stop.

September 10, 2023,Radtour Tag 12: Arneburg - Lenzen
Today we set off at 8:30 a.m. with the destination Schnackenburg. But all accommodations were fully booked and the Elbe ferry wasn't running. That's how we ended up in Lenzen. In the summer temperatures we cycle between 50 and 60 km in the morning. At lunchtime we lie in the shade for 1.5 hours. In the afternoon we book accommodation …

Breakfast wasn't until 8 a.m. today. But shortly before 9 we started. The Elbe is not far away. I then took a few more kilometers to the south. That was really nice.

My highlight today, however, were the two hunting red kites.

I actually wanted to take the ferry at Schnackenburg, but unfortunately I was 10 minutes late. The last one leaves at 5pm on weekdays. So I ended up in Lenzen. In the meantime, there are wonderful stretches and sights like the cathedral in Havelberg, but Wittenberge is easy to ignore.

Start this morning with sunshine and 7 degrees, felt like 3 degrees. That's where gloves came in handy. The route was great, beautiful nature, many animals, the wind was pretty strong today, but fortunately mostly as a tailwind or crosswind. The tranquility is just wonderful, almost no traffic on the whole route. Village after village flew past us. After almost …

I am extremely reluctant to leave our lovely accommodation. Despite the drizzle in the morning, the UV index is slowly but steadily climbing. We change sides of the river. Later we take the path between the Havel and the Elbe.

In the morning I prepare myself for the onward journey to Rudower See with breakfast at the tent and then packing. I get a visit from a proud rooster and his girls. I pay 5€ in cash and steam for the overnight stay at the still closed site.

Today was the best tour day! Just a dream! The wider the Elbe, the more beautiful the landscape and its fauna and flora! ❤️❤️❤️

The Stork Baby Center in Rühstädt was particularly nice today, the babies are delivered from here!! 😂❤️😂🥰
