Martin Luther Church Trossingen

Highlight • Religious Site

1743-1746 on the foundations of earlier churches, built under Carl Eugen Duke of Württemberg. The baroque colors and stylistic elements in the chancel of the church are very unusual for a Protestant church.

Hohner Museum

Highlight (Segment) • Monument

The history of the Hohner company began in 1857, when Matthias Hohner opened a small musical instrument workshop in Trossingen. Over the next few years, the company grew into one of the largest harmonica manufacturers in the world. Today, Hohner is best known for its high-quality traditional instruments.

Matthias Hohner was from Saxony-Anhalt and learned the craft of instrument maker from a traveling carpenter. After working for several years in different cities in Germany, he decided in 1857 to settle in Trossingen, Württemberg, where he opened a small workshop for musical instruments. At first, Hohner specialized in the manufacture of flutes and clarinets, but it was not long before he discovered the harmonica, a new instrument which was just beginning to become popular in Europe.

Hohner was one of the first European manufacturers of harmonicas and quickly became successful. Over the years, the company has continued to expand its production and launch new models on the market. Hohner is today particularly known for his Marine Band Harmonica - a model that was developed as early as 1896 and is still manufactured today without modification. Other popular models like the Blues Harp or the Golden Melody also come from the house of Hohner.

In addition to harmonicas, the company today produces other musical instruments such as guitars, keyboards or brass instruments, as well as related accessories such as picks or string sets under its various brands in the whole world.

Bronze Horse Statue, Trossingen

Highlight • Monument

Even as a child, I found this bronze sculpture very impressive. It is an image of the world famous racehorse from the early 20th century. The statue was a gift from a Trossinger manufacturer to his wife.
