Dammsmühle Castle

Highlight • Castle

At the site of today's Dammsmühle Palace, there was already a mill in the 16th century, acquired in 1755 by the Berlin leather manufacturer Peter Friedrich Damm. He erected the building of the Dammsmühle Palace as a two-storey palace.
After the end of the war in 1945, the castle was occupied by the Red Army. In 1959 the East German Stasi took over the house and used it as a hunting lodge until 1989. After reunification, the castle served as a hotel for a short time.
Unfortunately, today it is a ruin with an uncertain future

Lake Mühlenbecker

Highlight (Segment) • Lake

The south bank of the Mühlenbecker Lake is easily reached from the hiking car park Dammsmühle. Nearby is the castle of the same name directly on the "little brother" of the lake, the Mühlenbecker pond.

There is a beautiful old beech forest along the east side of the Tegeler Fließ. There is no forestry use and thus a very impressive natural area is becoming more and more established. Especially in combination with the wetlands of the Tegeler Fließ, you can wander through a fascinating landscape.

Currently (mid / end of April) the beeches are budding and the fresh green leaves show bright colors of various shades, especially in the sun.

When approaching the river is to think that it can be swampy and you could sink there

Bridge Over the Tegeler Fließ

Highlight • Bridge

The only bridge over the Tegeler flow, the other does not exist anymore and wading is not an option, have tested it with a stick you would sink ... so bridge does not destroy

View of Mühlenbecker See

Highlight • Viewpoint

We now walk past the marshland, the green of the trees beautiful, and a short distance further on we reach Lake Mühlenbeck.

A tree stump, like a small island in the lake, accessible by stepping over the water, offers us a wonderful view of the lake.
We savor the moment.

The smell along the path is sometimes strong and earthy, while the shoreline is sometimes swampy and muddy, and we spot tadpoles among the shoreline plants.
