The Kuckans Valley

Highlight (Segment) • Gorge

Geologically interesting trail, because you actually find volcanic rock here (information board). In addition, an ascent to the Ravensberg starts here with nice surprises (Reinhardsbrunnen). Botanically, the climb is varied and leads through a particularly beautiful beech forest.

Witches' Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

The "witch" up there has already seen something and she has certainly seen a lot and MANY.

Teufelsstieg Trail

Highlight • Trail

Nice way, but you should be free from giddiness. The path is quite narrow and sometimes steep over roots and without railings.

Viewpoint on the Teufelsstieg

Highlight • Viewpoint

A few meters off the trail lies a small rocky peak, accessible via a short, narrow ridge. It drops steeply on three sides. Alpine feeling in miniature!

From here you have a beautiful view of Bad Sachsa

Well, I have to say that you definitely have to visit this place at least once. In addition to the beautiful view, there are also numerous other things to do such as a playground, a chair lift, etc.

June 2, 2025,Von Bad Sachsa zur Stephanshütte - über den Ravensberg ⛰️ und Phillippsgruß zurück HWN 161 und 220
Off to the first hike - from Bad Sachsa, we first followed beautiful forest paths and later forest roads 😮‍💨 up to the Stephanshütte (HWN 161). From there, we continued to the Ravensberg. Beautiful view! (It could have been even better today, though). There weren't many hikers out and about, which was probably due to the mountain inn's opening hours …

Short vacation in Bad Sachsa. On icy paths up to the Ravensberg but no view 😀. The fog just stopped moving. But again 2 stamps and 2 special stamps for the Harz hiking pin

Hello friends,
First tour after our hiking holiday, the result of which, by the way, after five days was: 88 km, 2280 m elevation gain, and a whopping 18 stamps.
See you later

Again a varied and really easy to walk route with pleasant ups and downs! Due to a road block, the tour had to be spontaneously rescheduled and extended again. But the detour was worth it :)

This hike was really beautiful, but also a bit challenging.

Dear Birgit had asked for the Philippsgruß today and her wish was my command 😅. No, nonsense, of course I was really happy, after all we hadn't seen each other for a year 🫣. Karin, Gabi and little Lusy were also there with us. We took the usual route up and somehow we arrived at the hut with the HWN …
