Unnamed lake

Highlight • Lake

A beautiful lake in the middle of the forest - no name on the maps, but it doesn't matter - it's very beautiful and peaceful here. You can get off your bike and relax on the shore.

Obiszów Piast Fort Reconstruction

Highlight • Historical Site

This is not a real settlement - it is a reconstruction of a medieval settlement from the period of the Dziadoszanie tribe, but it looks really great. Historical films are made here, so I am not the only one who thinks so. The location is not accidental: not far from here there used to be this real stronghold.

Głogów Town Hall

Highlight • Monument

The Głogów Town Hall's origins date back to the late 13th century when a watchtower was built, later expanded into a two-wing masonry town hall in 1349, though it was destroyed by fires in 1420, 1433, and most significantly in 1574 after which it was rebuilt in Renaissance style. The building underwent major reconstruction between 1823-1835 according to architect A. Soller's design, creating two contrasting wings: western in Prussian classicism style and eastern in fashionable Florentine style.

After being severely damaged and burned out during the 1945 fighting for Głogów, the town hall was reconstructed from 1984-2002 and now houses the Municipal Office.

Streets of the Old Town

Highlight • Historical Site

During World War II, the old town was completely destroyed. The reconstruction of the Old Town began in the 1980s. It was a unique undertaking on a national scale, as it was rebuilt on the historical street plan, referring in style to the old buildings. The town hall was rebuilt in 1994-1995, and the municipal theater in 2019.

The Monument to the Children of Głogów, located near the Głogów Dukes' Castle, commemorates the tragic events of 1109 when German King Henry V tied local children to siege machines during his assault on the fortress.

The monument was designed by Bulgarian sculptor Dimitri Petrov Vacev and unveiled on September 1, 1979, built from public donations initiated by the Głogów Cultural Society. The granite sculpture depicts children bound to siege machinery, symbolizing their suffering and desire for freedom, with an inscription from Gallus Anonymus's chronicle stating that it is better to die by the sword for the homeland than to serve foreign nations.

Thanks to @Wojtek Milczarek, who rode this route some time ago, I decided to visit this place and find out what kind of route it is. BIKE MARATON Obiszów competitions are organized there. After today's ride around the route with @Jola Pliszka and @Wojtek Milczarek, I decided to compete this year. Thanks Wojtek for being there with us today.

Inspired by last week's Solid, I decided to try MTB 😂. I went to the closest bike park I know, Obiszów, where I have about 40 minutes by car. The first 12 km are very technical, then a great part to the ~280 mark and the end is quite technical again. A lot of cool singles, although I lack technique …
