View of Westbury

Highlight • Viewpoint

This is another section of the Wessex Ridgeway that gives you amazing views of and over Westbury town, A nice bridleway that is more like singletrack, its fast in warmer months, a bit lumpy in the winter, leads onto the magical avenue of beech trees.

Its nice to use this section as an interesting diversion if you are cycling the Imber Range Perimeter Path.

View from Westbury White Horse

Highlight • Viewpoint

One of the best views over Wiltshire and Somerset can be had from the top of the White Horse, here on the edge of the Salisbury plain and the Imber Range military area. It makes the climbing all the more worthwhile!

Fun little Whoop section that joins back with the main perimeter path after about 100 metres.

Imber Range Path

Highlight • Cycleway

So much gravel! There's lots to ride up on the plains but keep an eye out for flags as they signal military firing in the area.

Lots of tracks to drop back into Bratton or Edington for nibbles. These gravel tracks can be ridden on 28mm tyres in dry summer months.

The land south of the village of Erlestoke was used as a location in the 2018 film '1917' set during the second world war. During filming, deep trenches were dug into to the landscape to replicate WW1 scenes.

Cheverell Hill Farm, passed on the bridleway between Great Cherverill and the Imber Range Perimiter Path, was once a working farm but is now used by the military.
