Buensen is a beautiful idyllic village, where you feel a little bit back in time. It is definitely worth pushing the bike here and soaking up the idyll.

A beautiful forest path that brings you far away from the road in the direction of Buchholz.

Heathland in Büsenbachtal

Picture-perfect heathlands...during flowering.

Afterward, everything turns brown again. Its charm is also evident in winter.

Büsenbach valley

Highlight • Natural

One of the most beautiful heath areas is the Büsenbachtal near Handeloh.
From the car park you start into the flat valley along the Büsenbach and after a few meters the valley opens up into a wide heath area of incredible beauty.
The small Büsenbach flows through the valley, with wonderful heather-covered hills rising to the right and left. Dark green, gnarled junipers provide a fantastic contrast to the purple flowering heath areas. Silver-white birches rustle in the wind and you can hear the stream babbling.
The Büsenbach is a nutrient-poor river fed from a spring moor. Here you can experience the special phenomenon of a "stream sinkhole", where the course of the water seeps into the ground and reappears further down.

From the "Pferdekopf", the highest hill, you have a great view of the valley. Benches invite you to have a picnic and a large forest area surrounds the entire valley.
Sandy paths lead through the area, a great area for hikers. And maybe you'll even see the shepherd with his flock of sheep, who often walks through the valley in the afternoon.
By the way: The Büsenbachtal is located directly on the "Heidschnuckenweg" quality hiking trail.

Alternative to the sheepfold ;-)
In addition to currywurst and fries in the food truck, there is delicious ice cream and cake inside. You can also make your pit stop before or after the Büsenbachtal here.
A terrace outside invites you to linger.

Seppenser Mill Pond

Highlight • Lake

The lake is very pretty. You can walk around it on foot. The mill is unfortunately completely dilapidated and more of a stain, which I think is a shame.

A lovely path along the stream.

Google says this is the 'Steinbach' - Komoot says this is the 'Seppenser Bach'.
