Colwyn Bay Beach

Highlight • Viewpoint

Marine Road Beach sits at the western end of the rock and shingle beach adjacent to the centre of Colwyn Bay. The beach is popular for activities such as swimming, water sports, and sailing, with many sailing boats docking along this section of the shore. Being relatively flat, at low tide it is wide and vast, whilst a fairly thin strip of rocks and shingle is left once the tide has come in.
There is plenty of roadside parking along West Promenade, a short walk to the west of the beach. The promenade extends all along the Colwyn Bay beach front offering walking and cycle tracks as well as excellent views of the surrounding coastline. There is a dog ban on the beach from May until September. Dolphins and seals are occasionally spotted in the surf, whilst wading birds are a common sight. The beach can be accessed via a slipway.
It's a great stop for photos and a great cycle path.

Llanddulas Beach

Highlight • Beach

You'll find interspersed paths of sand and pebbles at this long stretch of beach that connects with Colwyn Bay to the west. For walking and cycling enthusiasts, there is a coastal walkway and cycle track between here and Colwyn Bay. There are toilets at Llanddulas Beach, and the nearby village has a shop and a local pub.

Parking is available next to the beach, and there is also a picnic site and a camp site for those wishing to stay a little longer.

There is no lifeguard on the beach.

And remember, please don’t feed the seagulls!

Kinmel Bay Beach

Highlight • Viewpoint

Also known as Sandy Cove, Kinmel Bay lies on the western side of the River Clwyd just across the estuary from Rhyl. The sandy beach is a popular spot with summer visitors and is used all year round by watersport enthusiasts.

Nature lovers should keep a look out for the occasional grey seal which might be spotted bobbing up and down in the water offshore, and the beach is also a good spot for skylarks, kestrel and a variety of wading birds.

Alongside the beach is a narrow promenade which passes the Kinmel Dunes Nature Reserve, which provides a habitat for a number of maritime plants including sea holly, rest harrow and bird’s foot trefoil.

The beach benefits from a large car park with toilets and in summer there is a beach kiosk open along the promenade. An Asda supermarket can be found very close to the beach.
In the nature reserve dogs must be kept on leads and the beach itself has dog walking restrictions from May to September. A great cycle route with amazing views.
