This unique double bridge over the River Arun was built in the mid-19th century. After the tower brick arch had been built, the Board of Trade deemed that the gradient up to Rudgwick Station was too steep for trains. As such, the embankments were raised and an iron bridge was built on top of the brick arch. When the team behind the Downs Link were looking for a suitable logo for the trail, this bridge seemed the obvious choice.
