Beckenham Place Mansion

Highlight • Cafe

A Palladian-style mansion that sits in the middle of the park, now a cultural centre and cafe. A fantastic spot to stop for coffee and a wander around. The paths are all rideable on all tyre types, a welcome respite from some of the bigger roads around the area.

Beckenham Place Mansion

Highlight • Historical Site

Beckenham Place Park is a huge park in Lewisham with a Palladian-style mansion house. Although the manor has medieval origins, the park was established in the 18th century by John Crator, a noted Quaker and MP. Today, the 237-acre park offers a quiet slice of green in the London suburbs. Its ancient woodland includes oak trees, sweet chestnuts and mulberry trees.

In 2019, a wild swimming lake and BMX track were opened. There is also a cafe in the park as well as lots of places for a picnic. More information: beckenhamplacepark.co.uk

A interconnected section of dirt and gravel track - mostly hardpack - that is suitable for MTB and gravel setups. Good location to intro kids or novice riders into off-road riding, too. Be mindful of park and trail users on foot. Some sections of the Park are cycling prohibitive, too.

A great wild swimming lake in Beckenham Place Park – perfect for a mid-ride dip! You need a ticket to enter the lake area, which is open from 7am - 3pm. The lake has only just re-opened to the public. Although a lake existed here since the 1700s, it was filled in and used as a golf course for many years.

Hard packed gravel around the park. Good surface for all bike types - a much better option than the road!
