A very nice stretch of road between Kemnader Lake and the old lock system.
Not only a beautiful view up to Blankenstein Castle.

Lake Kemnade

Highlight • Lake

The Kemnader See, built in 1979, is the youngest of the four Ruhr reservoirs and is located in the city triangle between Witten, Bochum and Hattingen. It has developed into one of the largest and most attractive leisure areas in the Ruhr area.
A marina, boat rentals, the Heveney leisure pool, a beach volleyball hall, a golf course, an illuminated inline skating rink and much more invite walkers, cyclists and inline skaters to become active themselves. Various restaurants, ice cream vans, a beach bar, a mini golf course and playgrounds round off the perfect leisure time fun.

The longest circular route around Lake Kemnade leads over the Lake Bridge and is around 10 km. The shortest route runs under the motorway bridge and is about 8.3 km. The Stiepel village church, Blankenstein Castle, the Katzenstein nature reserve and the historic district of Witten-Herbede are close to the lake.

The excursion boat MS Schwalbe II offers trips on the Ruhr from Witten-Bommern to Lake Kemnade. The MS Kemnade takes over the excursion traffic on Lake Kemnade.

Lake Kemnade

Highlight • Lake

The Ruhr reservoir is located between Bochum and Witten, at the foot of the Ruhruni Bochum. It is a popular destination for residents of Bochum and the surrounding area. There are now three paved paths around the lake for those looking for relaxation. One for pedestrians, one for inline skaters and one for cyclists. Most of the time it works. A lap around the lake is about eight kilometers long.

But it is undoubtedly most beautiful here in the early morning hours, when you can really enjoy the peace and quiet and let your bike run. And a sunrise on the lake is always something particularly beautiful. The "culinary" tip on the lake: The same ice cream van has been parked by the parking lots for years, refreshing you with delicious ice cream in the summer.

Really great path along the lake.
When the weather is nice, however, it is often very crowded.

The Koster Bridge is a road bridge over the Ruhr. It forms the city border between Hattingen and Bochum. The border is located approximately in the middle of the river.

A beautiful bike ride along the Ruhr from Lake Kemnader, past the Nachtigall mine (where they serve a simple but great snack bar 👌), via Wengern and Wetter to Lake Harkort and back. A donation-based ferry ride is included – fantastic 👍!
A cool excursion into the industrial heritage of the Ruhr region.
Best wishes 🚴🏻‍♀️🌳🙋🏼‍♀️

Unfortunately, there are several construction sites on the Ruhr Valley Cycle Path....

Beautiful tour with lots of sun and oncoming traffic. Unfortunately the GPS didn't work properly. At the average speed I would have fallen off my bike 🤣

Nice tour at the weekend on the Ruhr, very crowded... as soon as the mountains come it empties...some fitness is an advantage
