Barlavington Down Singletrack

Highlight • Viewpoint

This singletrack bridleway near the summit of Barlavington Down is a joy, whether you're on knobbly tyres, on foot or horseback.

It's a very steep descent or climb between the summit and Barlavington village, so it's best ridden downhill and leaving the climbing more a more gentle gradient.

Enjoy the chalky, rocky trail as you head straight down the hillside in the deciduous woodland.

Burton Mill Pond and Mill

Highlight • Historical Site

Burton Mill Pond is a beautiful place to visit. It is an atmospheric hammer pond and holding pond in the South Downs National Park, near Petworth, West Sussex. The pond is part of the Burton Mill and Chingford Ponds Local Nature Reserve (LNR) and the Burton Park Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), which are nationally important for their wetland habitats, rare plants, birdlife, and invertebrate populations.

Duncton Common Bridleway

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

The east end of this bridleway is always extremely muddy and difficult to ride. When coming from the east, take the left fork at the beginning of the track and you can turn right after the fenced enclosure to rejoin the original route. This way is much easier to ride.

West Sussex Lanes

Highlight • Trail

The quiet lanes of the northern most part of the South Downs around the small amiable towns of Haslemere, Midhurst and Petworth are an absolute dream for cycling. The villages of Kirdford and Plaistow offer great refreshments
