Built in 1538, this former residence of the Benedictine monks of Ebersmunster is among the earliest examples of the Alsatian Renaissance in Sélestat. The Praelatenhof was a refuge behind the city walls and also a warehouse for the prelate's goods. It received many distinguished guests. Inside is a hall with sandstone flags. On each side of the entrance portal, antique-style medallions with profiles of Remus and Romulus can still be seen. The doorjamb is crowned with shells and decorated with pilasters decorated with candlesticks and ribbons. The building was purchased by the city in 1960 and listed as a historic monument in 1976.
