Biotope and Shelter

Highlight • Mountain Hut

This is a truly beautiful spot. Wildly romantic, with a sheltered rest stop. Perfect for a break any time of year. And apparently, celebrations are held here from time to time. Why not? It certainly looks like fun. We really enjoyed it here too.

The parish church of St. John the Baptist is located at Hauptplatz 4 in Neuberg in Burgenland and is listed under the ObjectID: 28688. It is consecrated to St. John the Baptist and belongs to the Deanery of Güssing. The first chapel was built in 1742 and consecrated to St. John the Baptist. In 1821 a church made of "solid material" was built at the expense of the Neuberg community with the support of Prince Batthyány. Today's church was built in 1888 under Pastor Franz Barkovits. The high altar including the altarpiece dates from 1863. In the chancel there is a wall painting with the motif "Adoration of the Trinity". On May 21, 2010, Paul Iby, Bishop of Eisenstadt, consecrated the new people's altar. The altar panel is made of 220 million year old petrified wood from Arizona. It contains minerals such as jasper, agate and chalcedony. The substructure consists of very old tree roots. The ambo and candlestick are kept in the same style. Relics of St. Celsus, St. Donatus, St. Victoria and Blessed Ladislaus Batthyány-Strattmann were immured under the popular altar.
