Maria Waldrast Monastery

Highlight • Religious Site

Maria Waldrast is one of the highest pilgrimage monasteries in Europe. In addition to many Tyrolean delicacies, you can get to know the special Marienbrunnen. The spring water is said to have healing and invigorating properties, so that in no time you will be at the top of the Serles.

Serles Summit

Highlight • Summit

A great mountain, which is insured just before the summit with steel cables and a ladder. Alone one is never here, not even in the morning at 5 when it is cloudy. But still worth it :)

Ascent to the Serles Summit

Highlight (Segment) • Summit

The only way to the Serles leads from Serlesjöchl on the southwest flank to the summit. The path is quite steep and leads over partially rocky, partly loose terrain, but is altogether good walkable. However, you should definitely be sure-footed! Although the path is not directly exposed, but slipping on the steep slopes can have fatal consequences at one point or another!

After only a few meters of ascent you will come across a ladder and a short, rope insured piece. A via ferrata set can be saved here - unless there are children. On the following section of the route, however, loose stones may easily start rolling, which then start up at some speed. Since the Serles always attracts many mountaineers, I recommend a helmet on this piece. The difficulty as a via ferrata, I rate with A with single digits B: right at the beginning of the path leads over a 3m high ladder, then just below the summit there is easy rock climbing, but not insured and comes along without danger of falling.
