Reformed Church of Lenk

Highlight • Religious Site

The current church was preceded by two churches: the first was consecrated in 1505, the second built after the village fire on July 16, 1878. An earthquake in 1946 made it impossible to use it because of the risk of collapse. On June 18, 1950, the residents of Lenk were able to inaugurate their new church, designed by Karl Müller-Wipf (1909-2010). The stained glass windows were created by local artist Gottfried Tritten (1923-2015).

Lenk

Highlight • Settlement

Lenk is a small village in the Simmental at the foot of the impressive Wildstrubel (3,243 meters). The municipality lives mainly from tourism, so it is perfectly prepared to cater for you and offer you accommodation. Practical if your tour should end here: Lenk has a train station with a connection to Zweisimmen, from where you can easily continue your journey.

Bridge over the Simme

Highlight • Viewpoint

Here you can cross the Simme river in the direction of St. Stephan train station or the airfield. When there is flight activity, the view of the tarmac from here is very impressive.

Bridge over the Simme River

Highlight • Bridge

Nice little bridge for pedestrians and cyclists. This means you can travel the whole way from Matten to Zweisimmen without crossing a single meter of main road.

Gauge change at Zweisimmen station from meter gauge to standard gauge since December 2022
Thanks to the gauge change system at Zweisimmen station, the chassis spread so that the train can change from meter gauge (1M.) to standard gauge (1M.435) and vice versa. The carriages also rise and adapt to the platform (55cm on standard gauge, 35cm on meter gauge)

Brasserie on the Simme

Highlight • Restaurant

So in Bavaria that would cause trouble - white sausages after 12:00. The brasserie is really nice though
