Ruggell Parish Church
The Roman Catholic parish church in Ruggell is dedicated to St. Fridolin.
Northwest of today's church, a chapel was built between 1614 and 1617 and dedicated to St. Fridolin in 1617. This chapel was enlarged in 1668 and consecrated again in 1674. In 1851 the nave was lengthened. In 1874, Ruggell became an independent parish by being removed from the parish of Bendern. Four wooden sculptures from this chapel, which were created around 1500, are now in the Zurich State Museum. Today's parish church was built between 1897 and 1902 according to plans by Gustav Ritter von Neumann from Vienna and consecrated in 1911. 60% of the construction costs were borne by Prince Johann II. In 1962 a renovation took place. In the course of this, the decorative painting by Florus Scheel from Feldkirch was removed. In 1999 a new altar was consecrated and the church was extended according to plans by the Vaduz architects Bargetze and Partner. The sanctuary was redesigned by Georg Malin.
