Trodatsteg Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

The Trodatsteg is fully reserved for non-motivated locomotion. A nice bike path on which more often is going on. For example, at the Edelweissdirndlspring, where daring Dirndl wearers venture from the bridge into the cool water.

Welios (permanent adventure exhibition), catfish
The Welios is a permanent adventure exhibition on the subject of renewable energies and corresponds to the concept of a science center. The opening took place on April 16, 2011.
The cornerstone of the Welios was laid in the 1990s by the Austrian Federation of Industrialists. A science center with a distinctive experience character was to be built in Upper Austria. The project development for the project took place in the Energyland project planning group, which developed the idea of a science center on the subject of renewable energies in cooperation with the city of Wels, the state of Upper Austria and partners from business and education. The opening of the Welios took place on April 16, 2011. In February 2011, construction work was interrupted by a fire

Wels Town Hall

Highlight • Historical Site

Town Hall, Wels
One of the most remarkable buildings on the Wels town square is the town hall with its representative baroque facade, the weighty window baskets and the stone portal. The attic, richly decorated with stucco and stone vases, bears the coats of arms of the federal states.
The town hall originally consisted of two town houses that were built next to each other between 1736 and 1739 according to plans by Johann Michael Prunner. In addition to Prunner, local people were consistently involved in the renovation of the town hall.
The facade is structured by pilasters and decorated with stucco. Window crowns and wrought iron window baskets further enhance the charm of the overall picture. The coat of arms of the city of Wels is located above the stone portal, which is flanked by two pillars with vases attached. The coats of arms of the Habsburg hereditary lands are depicted on the richly decorated stucco attic walls above the facade. Stone vases are placed on the attic as well as on the portal.

Burggarten Wels

Highlight • Historical Site

Very nice garden between the castle and town houses. At the exit to the town square there is a handkerchief tree that blooms in May. Very large, white flowers!

Wels Castle

Highlight • Castle

In Wels Castle you can visit the interesting city museum: Here you can experience an unbelievable 1,000 years of history of the city - from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance and the Baroque to the present day. The castle was mentioned as early as 776, was owned by the Habsburgs for a time and under Emperor Maximilian I underwent a late Gothic conversion. You can also visit the Austrian Pastry Museum and the Museum of Expellees.
