One of the most remarkable buildings on the Wels town square is the town hall with its representative baroque facade, the weighty window baskets and the stone portal. The attic, richly decorated with stucco and stone vases, bears the coats of arms of the federal states.
The town hall originally consisted of two town houses that were built next to each other between 1736 and 1739 according to plans by Johann Michael Prunner. In addition to Prunner, local people were consistently involved in the renovation of the town hall.
The facade is structured by pilasters and decorated with stucco. Window crowns and wrought iron window baskets further enhance the charm of the overall picture. The coat of arms of the city of Wels is located above the stone portal, which is flanked by two pillars with vases attached.
