St. Luzia Church Eschfeld

Highlight • Religious Site

In the small community Eschfeld in the border triangle Germany-Belgium-Luxembourg is a special church. In the years 1906 - 1921, Rev. Christoph März painted an open Bible on walls and vaults. Interested visitors can admire the work.

Aloysius Chapel Daleiden

Highlight • Religious Site

According to tradition, the plague raged in 1636 in Daleiden and surroundings.
The 13 surviving Daleides made the vow to build a chapel in the event of survival in honor of St. Aloysius and to commemorate it each year on Sunday after June 21, the day of the death of St. Aloysius, with a procession to his chapel.

The first small chapel was soon replaced by a larger one. The current building was built around 1900 from the stones of the old cemetery wall (at the church).
Over the years, not only Daleidener, but also pilgrims from the neighboring communities took part in the procession. There used to be up to a thousand pilgrims who made their way through the festively decorated houses, through the triumphal arches erected, and afterwards enjoyed dance music. "

Daleiden Village Center

Highlight • Settlement

Daleiden is a municipality in the Eifel region Bitburg-Prüm, Rhineland-Palatinate with just under 1000 inhabitants.
The place was first mentioned in a document in the 13th century.
The eventful history of the place includes rule change, plague and Ardennes offensive.
Which of these events was the worst for the simple Eifel population here and in other places has not yet been finally clarified.

Unfortunately, the highlight was created at the reservoir, but it is 1.5 km away at Arzfeld.

Old Arzfeld Station

Highlight • Historical Site

Unfortunately, Arzfeld's old train station is not particularly well maintained. The wagons are rotting away, the grass is sprouting and there is something lying around everywhere. It's kind of interesting nonetheless.

Very beautifully designed Way of the Cross on the old bunker wall. A contemporary witness from the Second World War.
