Pwll Deri

Highlight • Natural Monument

A really spectacular section of coast with views from the car park of the peninsula to the north, Penbrush, where volcanic action has produced pillow lava. Behind is the high point of the iron age hill fort of Garn Fawr and in front is Dinas Mawr an Iron Age promontory fort.

View of Strumble Head Lighthouse

Highlight • Structure

Strumble Head Lighthouse sits in a magnificent position on a tiny island just off the coast. The lighthouse was built in 1908 to mark a precarious stretch of coast between Ireland and Wales. The lighthouse, reached by a small suspension bridge, is automated these days so there isn’t any access onto the island. However, its position amid the rocky coastal landscape makes for a delightful photo opportunity.

Garn Fawr Summit

Highlight • Viewpoint

With the beautiful view of Pwll Deri behind you, the climb to the trig point atop Garn Fawr is a short climb gaining about 100m in elevation from the road, but rewarding you with fantastic views across Strumble Head. Or if you don't feel like the climb today, there is always the option to bypass it to the north or south of the outcrop.
