Pont du Gard millennium olive tree

Highlight • Natural Monument

In February 1956 almost all olive trees in Provence froze, so these old trees were "re-imported" from Spain. It was worth it, nice subject.

The Grotto of Salpétrière is a Stone Age camp site under an overhanging massive rock, right next to the Gallo-Roman aqueduct of the Pont du Gard.
It is the eponymous site of the Salpétrien, a Paleolithic culture that dates back to around 19,000 years before the present

View of the Pont du Gard

Highlight • Viewpoint

Well-preserved Roman building, the Pont du Gard is a water pipe supplying the city of Nimes, I think, which I have already visited as well as the arena in Nimes, very beautiful.

Uzès - Saint-Théodorit Cathedral

Highlight • Religious Site

Saint-Théodorit Cathedral, located in the commune of Uzès, in the Gard, dates from the end of the 11th century. Listed as a Historic Monument for its bell tower and Fenestrelle tower, it was the seat of the former bishopric of Uzès until the French Revolution.

Originally built in a Romanesque style, the Saint-Théodorit cathedral was rebuilt in the late twelfth century after the Albigensian Crusade, then in the second half of the sixteenth century. At the beginning of the seventeenth century, it suffered total destruction with the arrival of the wars of religion.

Uzès

Highlight • Settlement

The Place aux Herbes is the nerve center where all the life of the beautiful city of Uzès is concentrated. The gigantic plane trees that offer saving shade, the magnificent Art Nouveau-inspired fountain in its center, and the wide arcades filled with restaurants, ice cream parlors, and shops. Everything invites you to take a refreshing break here.

Today I went on a wonderful tour with my mountain bike. First to the Pont du Gard, which has been standing since 60 AD, and then on to the beautiful town of Uzes with its great castle and churches and old alleyways. A visit there is very worthwhile
