Unfortunately, the route back from Esens wasn't very nice: we mostly walked along a road without a bike/footpath...and then we weren't allowed to go onto the dike with our dog (or with our bikes, by the way), so we had to walk along a main road. It's a shame, because the route up to Esens was so beautiful.
