The best views of the highest mountains: Ruivo, Torres, and Arieiro, are on the ridge path over Curral das Freiras and the neighboring valley toward Encumeada. Despite the cobblestone road, the approach is wide and very manageable; you'll just have to drive in first gear, but there are plenty of parking spaces.
