Woodland Hills viewpoint

Highlight • Viewpoint

The views from this point are quite incredible and well worth the effort it takes to ride up to them. With dirt tracks, folded canyons and hardly a soul around, it's a perfect objective on a gravel adventure.

Temescal Canyon Road is a great dirt road to ride. Whether you're grinding uphill or zipping down, this is a great path to use to connect the northern and southern paths in the Temescal Peak area.

Big Rock Beach

Highlight • Beach

Passing these long miles of beach access blocked by private mansions, you migh appreciate even just this narrow rocky beach in Malibu that is under water during higher tides. Named for the big rock just offshore at the point that mostly is home to birds perched on top and seals sunning themselves above the waterline. Since all California beaches are public below the mean high tide level, Big Rock Beach is always public because the mean high tide level is at the back of the beach. At lower tides the sandy shore is exposed, and the beach widens to both sides right in front of a long stretch of waterfront homes. There is a public gate with access to Big Rock Beach West of the Moonlight Restaurant at 20000 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu.

M*A*S*H Helipad, Malibu Creek State Park

Highlight • Historical Site

If you are a fan of the classic American TV show M*A*S*H, you might enjoy a trail run to the site where the outdoor scenes were filmed. The Helipad is located in Malibu Creek State Park, about 2.5 miles from the park entrance. The trail is mostly flat and wide, except for a steep section near the creek crossing. You can see the remains of two jeeps, a picnic area, and the iconic signpost with the distances to various cities. You can also climb up the hill to get a view of the helipad, where the helicopters used to land. This is a great place to relive some of the memorable moments from the show and take some photos.
