Monsal Head is one of the most photographed viewpoints in Derbyshire – and for good reason! Overlooking the impressive Headstone Viaduct crossing the picturesque Monsal Dale, it truly is a wonder to behold. You can stop for food and drink at the Monsal Head Hotel and there is usually an ice cream van parked here.

Sheepwash Bridge, Ashford in the Water

Highlight • Historical Site

When you pass through Ashford in the Water, make sure you go to take a look at Sheepwash Bridge. Here the yearly tradition of washing sheep in the river to clean them up for sale at the market took place, and you can even see the stone pen on the right hand side of the river where the sheep were held prior to the dunking.
