The Hald Egeskov (Oak Forest) is Denmark's largest forest stand of old Danish oak trees, and has always been part of Hald Hovedgaard (Manor). Many trees are over 300 years old. All oak trees remain standing until they fall down of their own accord due to old age or decay. Many beetle species, some of them rare, live in the fallen tree trunks.

The oak trees of the Hald area are now used for breeding. In good years several tons of acorns are collected, which are then planted all over Jutland.
