May 26, 2024,Maar Schalkenmehren – Gemündener Maar Runde von Gemünden

Starting point: Gemündener Maar car park at KuliMarrik Cafe & Restaurant
Good, partly asphalted paths from the section to the Moorekreuz, which also goes uphill.
Scenic route in the area of the maars, not chosen directly at the maar due to the busy weekend crowds.

A beautiful hiking trail that first goes around the three maars, then up to a tower from where you can enjoy a great view. But then it gets a bit boring because there are only forest paths and fields to follow. But overall it is highly recommended.

Beautiful circular hike from Schalkemehren around 3 Maare. There are nice places to rest and great views of the Maare. The actually manageable meters in altitude are spread over 3 crisp climbs😅

Well, if that isn't a nice home trail.
The sun lured us out the door at 8:30 a.m. hmmm..and it was cold.🥶
But we had the first few kilometers just for ourselves 🚶‍♀️🐕 and that was wonderful. Three maars in a row, the sun sometimes on our backs, sometimes on our faces...ahhhh, it was beautiful, we took our time and …

A hike with plenty of water was my Mother's Day wish, and so I chose the MaareGlück trail. The sun made the Schalkenmehren Maar glisten in the sun and the broom glow. The lupins formed purple splashes in the meadow. Every few hundred meters, we admired the magnificent landscape from one of the numerous benches. Before reaching the Weinfelder Maar, …

February 5, 2026,Drei Maare🌊Winkelbach🏞 Runde von Schalkenmehren🥾🦯🎒

Today's hike largely follows the "Maareglück" (Maare Bliss) trail.

I start at the parking lot by the church ⛪️ in Schalkenmehren. Leaving the village, the trail initially heads towards the Schalkenmehrener Maar (Maar lake).

A first climb 🏔 leads up to the Maarkreuz (Maar Cross). 🗽 The trail continues towards the Weinfelder Maar (Weinfeld Maar lake). At the main road, …
