Seesteine Natural Monument

Highlight • Natural Monument

The natural monument made of basalt rock, which is managed by the Werra Valley Association, is always worth a visit. The narrow, well-groomed paths and the stones themselves transport me to a different, earlier world with every stay.

An interesting information board has been set up for this sea of blocks. The Blockmeer is a biotope with an amazing variety of animals and plants.

As expected, I highly recommend the Premium Hiking Trail P1! There's a lot to see, it's varied, and informative. The signage is excellent. However, you have to be careful, as it has some unexpected detours. 13 kilometers doesn't seem like much, but with some ups and downs, I'd say it's quite challenging.

Very nice hiking trail with great views in fantastic weather today.
Start was at the Viehhaus hiking car park, from there it went through the forest up to the Meißnerhaus over forest paths and a hat.
The basalt columns at the Kitzkammer are very interesting and the path over the sea stones is really quite exhausting.
At first we started …

My first premium trail was very nice. Once I missed a junction and once again crawled across a field of scree. I love my sticks in such places!

What can you say, a really nice premium route. Everything is there like basalt prism wall, Mrs. Holle pond, basalt sea, lignite mines, ice fountain, sea stones. Really beautiful on the HOHEN MEIßNER. Well, I got wet again in the last 4 km.

It's been a long time since I was active on Komoot, unfortunately 😓. But I'm confident and this comeback tour is a real hit! A lot on small paths, with great views, many information boards and special geological highlights. And it was quiet too, it's definitely not like that at the weekend. LG and take the time to walk this …

A very varied tour, for which you should bring some basic fitness due to the altitude profile. The perfectly signposted trails, a premium trail, are sometimes very stony. That's why I recommend wearing hiking boots. Not necessarily ankle-high, but at least with a sturdy midsole. The Kalbe vantage point is a wonderful place to rest. Is signposted as "detour from …
