Attingham Hall

Highlight • Monument

Surrounded by thousands of acres of beautiful grade II-listed parkland, it comes as no surprise that Attingham Hall is one of the UK's most popular National Trust properties.

The house, built in 1785, belonged to various Lords and Barons throughout the 19th century. Each left their own mark on the hall, employing prominent artists and architects to design the house. For example, leading architect John Nash added a picture gallery in 1805, while neoclassical painter Angelica Kaufmann decorated a boudoir here.

The hall had various uses over the years. During WWI, it transformed into a hospital with 60 beds and an operating theatre. After WWII, the house became an Adult Education College until 1971.

The house, as well as its stunning parkland and gardens, are open to from 9am - 4.30pm daily. Standard tickets for adults cost £13.45. More information: nationaltrust.org.uk/attingham-park

Lovely place to visit, the house is not currently open (Covid) but the grounds are all open. So many places to walk here, with a walled garden, rutting deer, cafe, and gift shop. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
